BSL 3 - Facility

The virology facility at ABLEST is certified for BSL-3 compliance by the RCGM, Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, during July 2023. The facility provides access to Class II Type B2 cabinet ensuring safety for sample handling and processing of BSL-3 viral pathogens. Our virology facility with dedicated clean foot print area of 1062 sq. feet has essential safety engineering features to ensure safety of personnel, sample and environment including negative pressure environment with unidirectional airflow, HVAC system, HEPA filters, epoxy flooring, building management softwares, safety fire and pressure alarms, access restriction systems. The major facilities are change rooms, media preparation room, dynamic pass box, CO2 incubator, inverted microscope, ultracentrifuge, deep freezers (-20°C & -80°C ) for cold storage, refrigerator, weighing balance and double door autoclave to carryout high end research needed to study the pathological microorganisms with assured biological safety level 3 compliance for all researchers.

• Skilling programs on biosafety practices for students, researchers and start-ups
